Mount Seorak is the highest peak of the Taebaek Mountain Range (태백 산맥), located in Gangwon province, eastern South Korea. Mount Seorak is also called Seolsan or Seolbongsan. It is named Seorak because the snow that falls here is durable or the mountains are white like snow.

Mount Seorak is the 3rd highest mountain in South Korea after Mount Halla on Jeju Island and Mount Jiri in South Gyeongsang. Of the 30 peaks, the highest is Daecheongbong (대청봉) (1,708 m). The main part of this area is composed of granite and gneiss which form rocky mountains.
