Winter in Korea in the warmth of hot springs and spas, mineral hot springs at Seongmodo Ganghwado
Seongmodo Mineral Hot Springs
is one of the most popular new spots in Ganghwado, known for its fantastic
views of the Yellow Sea. Due to its location on the west coast, it is a great
place to watch the sun sink into the sea from one of the resort's 15 swimming
pools; be sure to arrive early, because the pool quickly fills up with everyone
eager to enjoy the experience. The hot water snack bar even takes phone orders,
so you can stay where you are! Just call for a coffee or sikhye (sweet rice
drink) and they'll have it delivered to your pool.
The water used at Seongmodo
Mineral Hot Spring is mineral water that is completely untouched, creating a
slippery consistency not found in most hot springs. If you accidentally drink
the water, you will experience a salty taste, because of the high sodium content.
After swimming in the pool, you may feel that you have a thin layer covering
your skin.
This is due to the minerals in
the water, which are very good for improving skin health. If you are sensitive,
you may want to wash it off, but remember that the use of cleaning products
such as shampoo and soap is prohibited. If you really don't like the taste on
your skin, you can dry it gently with a towel.
