Korea Corner Established at the National University Jakarta Indonesia
The Korean Cultural Center Indonesia
(under the leadership of Director Kim Yong-Woon) in collaboration with the
Korean Foundation opened the Korea Corner at the National University, Jakarta
in November 2020. The existence of the Korea Corner is to promote Korean
culture.
The Korea Corner project aims to promote
various things about Korean culture, with locations such as universities,
libraries or cultural gyms. Previously, the Korea Corner was opened at the
University of Indonesia, the Indonesian Education University (Bandung),
Hasanuddin University (Makassar), and Bina Nusantara University (Jakarta).
The Korea Corner which is located on the
lobby floor on the main campus of the National University is based on the
concept of a Hanok (traditional Korean house) consisting of two rooms. First,
the 'Information Zone' which is designed like a madang, which is a traditional
Korean courtyard. This room consists of a corner of Korean language and
culture, a corner of tourism, a corner of educational and scholarship
information which is equipped with books, DVDs, and various other materials.
Second, the 'Multimedia Room' is equipped with a 55 inch television, DVD player
and earphones in each seat. This equipment can be used to listen to film audio
or as a place for discussion.
In the Korean Corner opening ceremony
which took place online, Director Kim Yong-Woon and the Chancellor Dr. Drs. El
Amry Bermawi Putera congratulated the establishment of Korea Corner. In his
message, he hopes that the exchange of cultural information between the two
countries will be more active, especially with the existence of the Korea
Corner. In connection with the existence of the Korea Corner, KCCI will help
and support the availability of various materials, such as Korean books and
audiovisuals.
