Korea Tourism Organization Collaborates with Indonesian Athlete Asnawi Mangkualam to Promote Korean Tourism
When
it comes to promoting Korean tourism, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO)
always comes up with fresh ideas. This time, KTO is working with Ansan City and
Ansan Greeners FC football club to promote Korean tourism in Indonesia through
soccer. On May 12, Indonesia's national footballer, Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar,
was officially appointed as the honorary ambassador for Korean Tourism.
Asnawi,
nicknamed 'Park Ji Sung from Indonesia', joined Ansan Greeners FC last
February. After entering the K-League and his brilliant performance, Asnawi's
popularity among Indonesian society has skyrocketed. With these considerations,
the figure of Asnawi is deemed suitable to assist the KTO in promoting Korean
tourism in Indonesia. Asnawi's appointment, KTO hopes that the awareness and
attractiveness of Korean tourism in Indonesia, especially in the field of
sports tourism, will increase.
There
are three main goals to be achieved through this cooperation, namely the
promotion of Korean sports tourism, the development of Muslim-friendly tourism
infrastructure, and the development of tourism products for the city of Ansan,
especially those related to the K-League and spectator visits to the stadium,
after the pandemic ends.
Director
of KTO Jakarta, Yang Su Bae, said, “We hope that the appointment of Asnawi as
an honorary ambassador can increase the interest of the Indonesian people in
Korean football, including the K-League. So that when international tourism
recovers, Korean sports tourism will also be popular.
