South
Korean Ambassador to Indonesia, Park Tae Sung visited the office of the
Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, on Wednesday, 19 May 2021, discussing
increasing cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia, especially in Central
Java, Indonesia.
As
one of the largest investors in the country, including in Central Java, South
Korea has quite a lot to stimulate the national economy. Investments that have
entered are generally dominated by labor-intensive industries, such as garments
and footwear products.
Ambassador
Park Tae Sung said that “In the future, we hope that more types of investment
will enter Central Java. Especially now that there is already a high-tech
industry, namely KCC Glass Corporation, which has entered the Batang Industrial
Estate, ”Ambassador Park also added, the glass factory will become the largest
glass factory in Southeast Asia. It is possible that many other South Korean
industries will follow. Many large companies from South Korea have high
technology and can expand their investment in technology development in
Indonesia. We will help promote to investors in South Korea to enter Central
Java, "
At
the end of April 2021, a head of agreement (HOA) was signed in the field of
investment in the development of the battery industry, between the governments
of South Korea and Indonesia. Based on the agreement, we hope that this battery
investment can be realized in the Batang industrial area.
Governor
Ganjar also mentioned that South Korea is the country with the second largest
investment after Japan in Central Java. Of course we welcome this visit and we
hope to increase cooperation. This is important to improve the economy,
especially in the midst of a pandemic situation.
Governor
Ganjar revealed that the Batang industrial area was indeed prepared for a
technological industry. There have been many foreign investors who are
interested in entering Batang, because quite a lot of incentives have been
prepared in that place. There are from America, Germany, and many other
countries who are interested. I thank the South Korean Ambassador, who has
helped promote investment here. We want to explore more intensive cooperation
in the fields of creative industries, education, culture, agricultural
technology, and others.
