Korean cultural center Indonesia held a movie viewing event with “1987 When the Days Comes” to commemorate Korean democracy day 10 June

On Thursday and Friday 10 and 11 June 2021 the Korean Culture Center Indonesia held a joint viewing of the film screening (1987 When the Days Comes), this event was held to commemorate democracy day 10 June Republic of South Korea, the number of people who attended the screening of this film was limited. only 80 people because there is still a covid-19 outbreak and very strict rules are applied in the screening of this film, before the start of the film, the director of the Korean cultural center Indonesia gave a little explanation that we as young people living in the era of 2000 should never forget any history experienced by a country.

Those present at the screening of this film were from various circles, ranging from honorary reporters, Sahabat Korea (social media supporters from the embassy of the Republic of Korea) and also other Korean lovers. the student movement was mourning. For those who are thirsty and like films with historical elements.

The story begins when a student named Park Jong Chul is declared dead while being interrogated by the police. At that time, police officers were aggressively hunting down communists. The military regime is in power, they are arbitrarily and arbitrarily arresting civilians. Moreover, at that time Park Cheo Won was in control of this case.

Park Jong Chul's death is still a mystery. His family was not allowed to see him and his body was forcibly cremated. Journalists, prosecutors, and fellow students are certainly not satisfied with the clarification from the police.

Revealing the facts in their own way, there are many parties involved. There is prosecutor Choi who is not afraid to fight Park Cheo Won, detective Jo who is the scapegoat, and journalist Yoon who is critical when looking for sources.

This case shows a bright spot when warden Byeong often asks his nephew Yeon Hee to give a notebook to the priest at a catholic church near his house. Not an ordinary note, it was written on the name of the police officer who tortured Park Jong Chul. How did the warden know? Because he was an eye witness to the torture.

The struggle to uncover the death of Park Jong Chul is also given the spices of romance in some of the players. Not a romantic film, the ending of this film is not like a fairy tale with a happy ending. Although not happy, because Park Jong Chul the military regime was overthrown and Korea can become a democracy until this moment.
