Recommendations from Korean friends for activities you must do during autumn holidays in South Korea
September
to November is the best month to enjoy autumn in South Korea. South Korea does
have beautiful places and every season has its own place to enjoy the beauty of
the season. Leaves that begin to change color to red, yellow, and orange which
are the hallmark of autumn are very easy to find in every corner in Korea. At
the end of autumn, it will fall, creating a romantic atmosphere.
In
this article, I had the opportunity to interview a friend who is a South Korean
citizen, named (신지원/Shin
Ji Won - @jiwons__ /Instagram) who lives in the city of Seoul, South Korea and
works as a Researcher at VANK, Cyber Diplomatic Delegation @vank_prkorea.
What
do Koreans usually do in autumn?, When the weather is cool and the sky is
clear, autumn is the season when the autumn leaves are beautifully colored.
When I think back to the days when there was no Corona, Koreans used to go
outside to see the autumn leaves in the fall or go hiking in the Korean
mountains like Seoraksan. It's neither hot nor cold and the weather is nice, so
lots of people go on picnics.
What's
your favorite food in autumn? And why did you choose that food?, In autumn,
Chuseok is a Korean holiday. I made various Korean dishes with my family and
ate them, Songpyeon is a Chuseok specialty. In addition, every family makes
kimchi in the fall. Korean kimchi culture by making kimchi during the previous
year has also been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kimchi is a
traditional Korean food that Koreans love, and kimchi has not left the Korean
table. Kimchi is often made with various ingredients depending on the region,
but it is said that there are more than 100 types of kimchi. Make sure to try
kimchi when you come to Korea!
In
your opinion, what are the must-visit places in autumn in Korea?, I think it
would be better to go to the mountains covered with autumn leaves. People often
travel to high mountains like Jirisan and Seoraksan. Namhansanseong Fortress in
Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do is also a beautiful place to see in autumn. Namhansanseong
Fortress If you climb Namhansanseong Fortress, you can get a glimpse of Seoul
and its surrounding cities. I also recommend visiting Haneul Park in Seoul or
Jeju Island, where the silver grass is beautiful. A lively festival in autumn
in Korea is the Maple Festival / Fireworks.
Please convey messages and recommend to Indonesian friends who want to go to Korea in autumn. There are four seasons in Korea, so they all have a different and beautiful feeling. Also go to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace and take lots of photos while wearing traditional Korean clothes, Hanbok, and traditional Indonesian clothes, batik. I thought it was so pretty when I went in the fall.
