The excitement of winter is usually followed by a number of interesting festivals, such as in South Korea which is so lively to welcome the arrival of this season, there are several interesting winter festivals that you really must visit while on vacation to Korea in winter.

Taebaeksan Snow Festival

Held annually at Taebaeksan Mountain, the Taebaeksan Snow Festival offers an amazing winter festival experience through a variety of ice sculptures from local and international artists, snowman festivals, ice rock climbing contests, traditional winter games, and other exciting events. Taebaek is a small town in Gangwon Province that can be reached from Seoul by a three-hour drive. One of the interesting parts that visitors often visit is the ice cafe, a shop to relax, whose interior is made of ice, usually visitors will spend time sipping a glass of hot chocolate to warm the body. The Taebaeksan Snow Festival is usually held in January every year.

Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival

Winter festivals are usually enlivened with areas for skiing or featuring unique carved ice sculptures, but this is different from the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival which is designed as a fishing ice festival which is nominated as one of the seven best winter attractions in the world. The festival started in 2003 with the activity of catching trout in a frozen river with their bare hands. After catching fish which is full of fun because it is not easy to catch fish without the help of a fishing rod, festival goers will cook their catch or eat it raw like sashimi. The excitement of this festival already attracts one million visitors annually and enhances its reputation as one of the most important winter festivals in the world, supported by a number of interesting events, such as art performances, streets decorated with colorful lights, and an ice carving exhibition.

Inje Icefish Festival

Lake Soyangho is the largest fish breeding area because there are about 50 types of freshwater fish, such as Cyprinus carpio nudu, trout, carp, eel, and many more. In winter, the lake hosts the Inje Icefish Festival, which is also a festival that doesn't just hold fishing activities. Here, visitors to the Inje Icefish Festival can take part in icefish tasting, snowboarding, or playing soccer on the ice field. Hongcheon River Ginseng Trout Festival

Sungai Hongcheonggang begitu istimewa dengan kehadiran ginseng trout berumur enam tahun. Ikan dipancing di atas es dan seperti festival ikan musim dingin lainnya di Korea, peserta mesti menangkapnya dengan tangan kosong. Acara yang marak ini digelar di Vivaldi Park Snow World yang juga diramaikan dengan kehadiran area untuk bermain seluncur es, pameran patung ukiran es, pergantian atap jerami rumah, dan mengendarai keledai.
