The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia (Ambassador Park Tae-sung) and the Indonesian Korean Cultural Center (KCCI) held the "Hanbok-Batik Fashion Show 2021"
Hanbok
and Batik Fashion Show, a fashion show event in Indonesia with the theme Hanbok
and Batik Meeting. This event will be broadcast live via the YouTube channel
KCCI (KCCIndonesia) on Friday, October 22 at 18.00 WIB. The purpose of this
event is to promote Korean-Indonesian cultural exchange by introducing and
collaborating with the traditional clothing of the two countries, namely,
Hanbok and Batik.
This
fashion show will introduce the production process of Hanbok and Batik
clothing, as well as show the beauty of the traditional clothing of the two
countries through stage performances that are enlivened by professional models.
Please note that this fashion show is run simultaneously in Korea and Jakarta.
The runway stage has been prepared at Chojeong Palace, the king's resting place
which is located in the city of Cheongju, Republic of Korea. There, traditional
Hanbok and Hanbok Batik collaborations designed by Hanbok designer Lee Hyo-jae
will be demonstrated. At the same time, Batik and the collaboration of Kebaya
Hanbok designed by Indonesian batik designer Novita Yunus will be exhibited in
Jakarta using the virtual backdrop of the Chojeong palace.
In
this fashion show, Ambassador Park Tae-sung will appear in Hanbok. Not only
that, a series of Indonesian figures such as the Governor of West Java Ridwan
Kamil, Chairman of the Indonesian Batik Foundation Yanti Airlangga,
Representatives of the Indonesian House of Representatives Meutya Hafid and
Desy Ratnasari, singer Rossa, and the chairman of the Korean Association for
Indonesia Park Jae-han also participated as models of honor.
The
Hanbok and Batik Fashion Show was fully supported by the Ministry of Culture,
Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (Minister Hwang Hee), and the
Korean Design and Craft Culture Promotion Agency (Director Kim Tae-hoon).
In
his remarks, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of
Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto said, "I hope that today's fashion show will
also encourage people from our two countries to collaborate more in the
creative industry sector and take part in the economic recovery efforts of both
countries."
The
Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of
Indonesia Nadiem Makarim also delivered a congratulatory speech saying,
"With this 2021 Hanbok and Batik Fashion Show, let's celebrate the fusion
of our cultures for a stronger and warmer friendship between Korea and
Indonesia. ." Meanwhile, Ambassador Park Tae-sung as the organizer of this
event emphasized, “Hanbok and Batik are cultural heritage and symbols that
symbolize Korea and Indonesia. Through this Hanbok and Batik collaboration
event, the beauty of the two clothes will unite on stage."
"I
hope this Hanbok-Batik Fashion Show brings the two people closer to become
special friends like siblings through increasing understanding of Korean and
Indonesian cultures, and more intensive cultural exchange activities," he
added.
