Enjoying the Various Charms of South Korea

 

Jakarta – The Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) introduced an exciting concept in traveling to South Korea. Generally, tourists will visit big cities or resorts. Meanwhile, the trend that has developed lately is to visit places that have local characteristics. The concept is called “Glocal”, a combination of two words global and local, where the unique culture of a place can be spread to various international communities. This concept has become possible with the development of transportation networks that will bring tourists to various regions easily and quickly. In addition, the availability of tourism information becomes easily accessible through media and social media.

South Korea is a country that is very suitable for Glocal tourism because South Korea has an excellent transportation system, which includes fast train services, which can take tourists anywhere in a short time. Each region is uniquely different based on its geology and weather. Tourists will enjoy the charm of traditional culture that is well preserved in each area.

Silhak movement in the Joseon Dynasty in South Korea

Since the beginning of the 17th century, a movement that advocated Silhak, or learning about practical matters, gained considerable momentum among liberal-minded scholars as a tool for building a modern nation. They strongly advocate for improvements in agriculture and industry, in line with comprehensive reforms in terms of land distribution. However, the nobles of conservative governments were not ready to make such drastic changes.
