KOREA ABOLISHES PCR TEST REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURISM TRAVEL TO SOUTH KOREA
Seoul,
South Korea (Press Release of Ministry of Health and Welfare) – The Ministry of
Welfare and Health of South Korea issued a press release through the official
website www.mohw.go.kr
regarding the removal of the PCR test requirement for visits to South Korea
as of October 1, 2022.
Previously,
South Korea imposed a PCR test on the first day of arrival for tourist visits
to South Korea, since the door for tourist trips was opened on June 1, 2022.
The
decision to remove the PCR requirement upon arrival was made after considering
several data including:
•
A downward trend in the number of Covid-19 infection cases in South Korea.
•
South Korea's domestic antibody level data reached 97.38%
•
South Korea's 6th level of epidemic level has subsided
This
policy of revocation of the PCR test takes effect on October 1, 2022 at 00.00
local time. However, if visitors experience Covid-19 symptoms within 3 days
after arrival in South Korea, visitors are encouraged to have a free checkup at
the local Health Center (Call Center +82-2-1339 for more information).
Filling
in the Q-Code is still done before departure for time efficiency before
immigration at the arrival airport. The current Q-Code filling is only in the
form of personal data and flight information. While in South Korea, visitors
are encouraged to maintain health protocols in accordance with the applicable
Health protocol regulations.
