The special movie screening of “PARASITE” in indonesia with ambassador korea



On Friday 14 February 2020, the Korean government in Indonesia held a special movie screening of "PARASITE", the event was held at CGV Grand Indonesia, which was attended directly by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia HE Kim Chang Beom and also Ambassador of the republic of orea to ASEAN HE Lim Sung Nam, the event was deliberately held because remembering yesterday the film received 4 awards at once from the prestigious nomination, Oscar.
Parasite became the first film from South Korea and even Asia to win an Oscar 2020 in the Best Picture category.



Previously, Parasite had already brought home the 92nd Academy Award trophy through Best Original Screenplay, International Feature Film (Foreign Language Film), and Best Director. There are 4 total trophies obtained by this film made by Bong Joon-Ho.



Given a standing ovation by all the guests present, producer Kwak Sin-Ae gave his victory speech. The stage was also filled with Parasite cast and film crew, such as Song Kang-Ho, Lee Sun-Kyun, Cho Yeo-Jeong, Choi Woo-Shik, Park So-Dam, and Lee Jung-Eun, and Chang Hyae-jin .
In Oscar 2020, Parasite entered six nominations namely Best International Feature Film (Foreign Language Film), Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Film Editing, and Best Production Design.



Previously, Parasite won the award for the Best Original Screenplay category in the 2020 Oscar Cup. This award placed Parasite as the first South Korean film maker in history to win that category.
Parasite defeated famous Hollywood directors, such as Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the movie script Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Also defeated the script of the film Marriage Story, Knives Out, and 1917.
In the category of International Feature Films (Foreign Language Films), Parasite beat the films Pain and Glory (Spain), Les Misérables (France), Honeyland (Republic of Northern Macedonia), and Corpus Christi (Poland)



Before winning four Oscars, Parasite also won the Original Screenplay award in addition to Film Not In The English Language in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Parasite is the second Korean film that managed to bring home the Best Film Not in the English Language trophy in BAFTA throughout history. The cup was first brought home by South Korea through the film The Handmaiden by Director Park Chan-Wook in 2018.



In addition, Director Bong Joon-Ho also won the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) Audience Award which is also known as the BankGiro Loterij Audience Award.
Long before that, Parasite won the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and became the first South Korean film to get it. At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, Parasite was also nominated for three awards including Best Director and Best Screenplay, and won the Best Foreign Language Film, becoming the first Korean film to achieve this achievement.



Parasite also became the second foreign film ever nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Extraordinary Appearance by Cast in a Motion Picture since the film Life Is Beautiful in 1997. Parasite finally won the category, and incised the history of Korean film on the international scene.
The story of Parasite itself illustrates the social and economic inequality of two families. Is Kim Ki Taek (Song Kang-ho) living in a narrow underground house with his wife, Choong Sook (Jang Hye-jin) and his two children, Ki-woo (Cho Woo-shik) and Ki-heong (Park So-Dam ). They survive by folding pizza boxes.



One day Ki-woo's friend offers a job to become an English tutor for a wealthy family. Ki-woo initially hesitates, but because of the need for money he finally accepts the job. When he accepted this job, the family immediately experienced an unexpected adventure.
