A
narcotics detective team disguises itself in a fried chicken restaurant to spy
on organized crime gangs. But things changed unexpectedly when the detectives'
chicken recipes suddenly turned a rundown restaurant into the most popular
restaurant in town.
this
film tells the story of five detectives who are handling drug cases. They set
up a Korean-style chicken restaurant as part of a secret undercover
investigation and mission to expose the root of the crime.
However,
some unexpected incidents began when the restaurant where they worked became
famous. The five police detectives are team leader Go (Ryoo Seung-Ryong),
Detective Jang (Lee Ha Nee / Lee Honey), Detective Ma (Jin Seon Kyu), Detective
Young Ho (Lee Dong Hwi) and Detective Jae Hoon (Gong Myung) . According to the
Korean Film Council, the film which premiered in South Korea on January 23,
2019, as of February 6 has reached 10 million viewers, which is within a period
of 15 days. Extreme Job became the 18th South Korean film and second comedy
film that could reach 10 million viewers after Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2013).
The film
won positive reviews from critics of South Korean films because it presents a
dynamic dialogue between characters and comedy stories that are easily captured
by the younger generation. "The director is an expert at creating jokes,
and is able to deal with a variety of themes and subjects. Extreme Job has
fancy puns, twist plot and dynamic dialogue between characters, "said Kang
Yoo Jung, a film critic.
"In
recent years, Korean cinema has tended to focus on dealing with social problems
in major crimes and the truth is revealed in films.
In
doing so, they produce scenarios that lack detail. "But like Mal-Mo-E,
audiences now have a keen view to prefer director's work that may be less well
known but have their own unique ways to create stories,"
"This
film instills humor everywhere, so viewers can laugh out loud every minute or
two. This is suitable for young people who are accustomed to watching short
video clips on YouTube, which are made to direct viewers to laugh
instantly," said film critics Yoon Seung Eun.
"Comedy
shows on TV such as 'Gag Concert' are diminishing because they don't understand
this trend, while the film can be said to be the opposite.
