Modern Korean Literature ‘Mama and Guest Room Occupants (1935) 'Specially Produced Video Theater Drama for Spectators in Indonesia Aired by the Korean Cultural Center indonesia through social media



The Korean Cultural Center Indonesia, under the leadership of Director Kim Yong Woon, celebrated his 9th birthday by producing a theater video stage titled "Mama and Room Occupants" by Ju Yo-seup. Recorded on the stage live and displayed as an online show.

Perform in online format without face to face with this spectator presented specifically to the audience in Indonesia, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The theater video "Mama and Guest Room Occupants" will premiere on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 16.00 WIB through the KCCI website and social media (YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook).



Although this theater drama is not presented in the form of face-to-face between the performers and the audience, which are the characters of a theater performance, Indonesian text has been added so that the audience can understand the course of the story. In addition, a little dialogue was put into Indonesian and Indonesian-language songs to bring the show closer to the Indonesian audience. "This performance is the first time it has been produced in the form of a video theater by KCCI.


Presented in the form of a 'three-dimensional novel' where a literary work is presented in the form of a theater stage, the actors present the contents of the story without modifying words. This opportunity is expected to be a means to open the door to exchange information in the field of literature between Indonesia and Korea.

Therefore, by watching this show, the audience reads the original story of a literary work through the actor's acting game, "said Producer Kim from Sunjae Artplan Korea. In safeguarding the author's copyright, KCCI signed an official contract to use the author Ju Ju's literary works -seop through the Korean Scientific Literature Copyright Association (KOSA) which manages the "Mama and Room Guest Room" copyright. 



This is the first example in Korea because KCCI obtained permission to use copyrighted works on an online platform. It is hoped that through this opportunity can create standard provisions regarding the protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

KCCI Director, Kim Yong Woon, said, "Korean modern literature is rarely introduced in Indonesia. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, where the Indonesian government is still extending PSBB, so that all offline activities involving many people are still prohibited. In this situation, we the opportunity to introduce K-Theater online.


"He added," KCCI will continue to try to introduce modern, contemporary Korean literary works with more variety, and hope to work the same as those in the Indonesian literary world. "Video theater" Mama and Guest Room Occupants "presented by the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia can be witnessed on 11 July 2020 at 16.00 WIB until 6 July 2021 through KCCI's website, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook channels. This performance will be used as a means of promoting modern Korean literary works in the future.
