The online event of the Republic of Korea's embassy in Indonesia discussed about how to become a diplomat and the life of a diplomat for future diplomats

On Thursday 9 July 2020, the Korean Cultural Center of Indonesia with the Republic of Korea's embassy in Indonesia held an online internet program titled (Life of Diplomats for the Future Diplomats). In this event we were given the experience of a Korean diplomat, Seong Jihee (성 지 희 ), and a diplomat from Indonesia (Derry aplianta) who served in Korea from 2017 to 2019, this event was held limited through Google's digital platform, only 60 people were able to attend this forum.

How does the work of a diplomat, diplomats from all countries have the same function and the same tasks also in each country, there are five important functions performed by a diplomat, namely:

1. Representing, 2. Protect, 3. Promote, 4. Negotiations, 5. Report

What we do in a country of people reflects us from our home country. Being a diplomat also has to safeguard speech and behavior in other countries, we as diplomats must protect our citizens abroad by means of existing rules in the home country in the form of legal protection from the law the local state, we also have to protect with the rules that already exist properly.

Promote, by promoting culture, hold a show. Or in trying to find investors to invest business capital in the country. Which can establish closer relations between the two countries.

Negotiations, discuss cooperation between the two countries, to produce a new discovery and benefit both countries to continue to advance together in the future that will be beautiful.

Reporting, namely reporting everything that happens in the two countries, for example in the field of technology cooperation. Before the plan is carried out or after it is held it must be reported to the central government regarding what cooperation is to be carried out or that has been carried out with the two countries and it is this diplomat who reports to the central government in authority for all existing agreements.

How to become a diplomat: We need three points' which become basic, we must be able to speak English, must master IT devices (understand the operating system that is on a computer device), must understand using social media because we must know current developments quickly. There are other things that can help. We must be able to have a deep curiosity, have a sense of creativity and also must have a high sense of caring for our fellow people. To work as a diplomat prioritizes teamwork and together with the team.

And working as a diplomat must be prepared for a sudden assignment with everything that is available for the progress of the two countries. Must be able to be friendly and easy to get along with anyone, and certainly priority can speak in public well as a speaker.

What must be done if you want to work at the embassy or as a diplomat, must understand the local language, and become a diplomat can not choose what country we want so we must be prepared to be placed in that country. And what we have to know is that we also need to know the country's language, the country's culture, the country's social condition, and the country's development.
