Virtual Walks with Feel the Rhythm of Korea Part 2
The combination of modern Pansori and energetic dancers in the first three videos of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) "Feel the Rhythm of KOREA" series on YouTube has attracted worldwide attention. Following the popularity of the video, KTO then released three other videos with interesting attractions in other cities: Gangneung, Mokpo, and Andong. The cheerful music and unique dance moves are still the highlight in this video.
Feel
the Rhythm of Korea: Gangneung, Gangwon-do
The
first place in Gangneung is Yeongjin Beach, one of the favorite attractions of
Korean drama lovers. This beach became popular thanks to the drama
"Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016)", where the scene of
Goblin (Gong Yoo) giving white buckwheat flowers to the female lead (Kim
Go-eun) was taken in one of the breakers. Many tourists visit Yeongjin beach to
recreate the drama scene.
Next
is Hyangho beach. This beach is famous for the BTS Bus Stop, which appears on
the cover of BTS's second album. The bus stop was originally only built for BTS
album shoots. However, due to being very popular with BTS fans, Gangneung City
finally decided to reinstall the bus stop and make it a photo zone for
tourists. Apart from that, Hyangho beach offers many outdoor activities such as
camping and surfing.
The
last tourist attraction that appeared was the Naksansa temple. This temple in
the Yangyang-gun area was founded in 671. It is famous for its beautiful
coastal views and the large statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara on its coast.
Many tourists visit on New Year's Day to watch the first sunrise from the
Uisangdae Pavilion.
Feel
the Rhythm of Korea: Mokpo, Jeollanam
The
first attraction in Mokpo is the Mokpo marine cable car or Mokpo sea cable car,
which opened in 2019. With a length of 3.23 kilometers, this cable car has
become the main attraction of Mokpo city. To feel a more exciting sensation, a
crystal cabin with a transparent glass floor can be the choice of tourists when
visiting here. This cable car also operates at night, so tourists can enjoy
beautiful sunsets and night views of this port city. The next attraction is
Yudalsan mountain, which is famous for its beautiful rock formations. From the
top of Mount Yudalsan, tourists can enjoy the beautiful view of a row of
islands. In addition, tourists can also see other tourist objects such as the
4.19 Memorial Tower, the Loyalty Tower and the sculpture garden.
Next
up is Sungui Salt Farm on Aphaedo Island, Sinan, about 20 minutes' drive from
Mokpo. The Sinan area is famous for its vast salt ponds. The salt here is
crystallized using a method by utilizing sunlight and wind to evaporate its
moisture content. Tourists visiting Sinan can also visit Taepyeong Salt Farm on
Jeungdo Island, to learn about the salt saline process, visit a museum and
relax in a cafe while enjoying the view.
Feel
the Rhythm of Korea: Andong, Gyeongsanbuk-do
The
first attraction in Andong is the Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy
(Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy), an educational institution of the Joseon
dynasty, which was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in
2019. Tourists interested in historical tourism can join a class program, which
tells about the lives of scholars during the Joseon dynasty.
