Korea Prepares to Restart Tourism with New International Travel Exhibition
Korea will start a new comprehensive travel exhibition, the Korea International Travel Expo (KITE 2021), which combines four Korean tourism events under the sectors of MICE, Korean Travel, Luxury Travel, and Medical Health on 29 June - 13 July 2021. This hybrid event kicked off on June 29 with an Opening Ceremony held at the Gateway to Korea - Paradise City Hotel, Incheon, sending a message of hope that international tourism could resume.
Presenting
itself as the new 'One-stop Travel Expo', KITE 2021 will provide an overview of
Korean tourism in preparation for the resumption of tourism to Korea. Attendees
can find the latest information on Korean tourism in four sectors, engage in
1:1 video business consultation with Korean sellers through a new online
platform, and gain insight into post-Covid-19 tourism in Korea through various
conference programs.
The
Opening Ceremony, which will be held offline at the Paradise City Hotel,
Incheon, with live online streaming available for overseas attendees, will
highlight Korean Night Tour content with a full suite of programs including
keynote speeches by speaker Burkhard Kieker (CEO of Tourism and Berlin
Congress) , Chang Chee Pey (Assistant Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism
Board) and British actress Joanna Lumley. Burkhard Kieker will fly from Berlin
to attend the event in person, while Chang Chee Pey and Joanna Lumley will join
via holograms from Singapore and London to discuss strategies for the
resumption and revitalization of post-Covid-19 international tourism.
Additional programs include a special longboard show by Korean longboarder Ko
Hyojoo, plus an evening drone show to end the night.
Over
a two-week period, KITE 2021 will provide virtual meeting rooms for 1,500
Domestic and Overseas Buyers and thousands of visitors to network and connect
with local service providers, including RTOs, CVBs, travel agencies, hotels,
luxury travel companies, convention centers, medical institutions. and much
more.
The
event started with Korea MICE Expo (Korea MICE Exhibition) from June 29 – July
2, with MICE Roadshow, RTO/CVB Showcase, and Meeting Technology Pitching. The
event continues with the Korea Travel Mart (Korea Travel Market) from July 5 –
7, where delegates can find special discounts on Korean virtual travel
products, early flight tickets to Korea, plus live travel talk shows with K-pop
stars, and online Fam Tour for overseas buyers.
Korea
Luxury Travel Mart (Korea Luxury Travel Market) will take place from July 8 –
9, with a Luxury Tourism Conference and virtual Fam Tour featuring luxury
tourism facilities and content. The exhibition will conclude with the Korea
Medical Wellness Tourism Fair from July 12 – 13, with a Medical Health Tourism
Conference, virtual wellness experience programs, and medical consultations for
overseas delegates.
