Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) Again Held
After
the success of the Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF) 2020, this year KIFF
will be held again. This annual event organized by the Embassy of the Republic
of Korea for the Republic of Indonesia and carried out by the Korean Cultural
Center (KCC) Indonesia and CGV Cinemas aims to strengthen Indonesian and Korean
cultural exchange activities in Indonesia. KIFF was first held in 2013 and
later became an annual event with an average seat occupancy of 70%, taking part
in the 'Korean Wave' in Indonesia.
This
year's KIFF will take place from October 27 to October 31, 2021. It will be
held in two cities, namely Jakarta (CGV Grand Indonesia) and Bandung (CGV Paris
van Java). In addition, film screenings are also held on online platforms, in
collaboration with Vidio. The series of KIFF events began with an opening held
at CGV Grand Indonesia on 27 October and continued with a special screening of
the film <Sinkhole>.
The
lineup of Korean films that are ready to be screened throughout KIFF are
<Hostage>, <Escape from Mogadishu>, <The Box> and others. In
addition, for Indonesian films, one of them is <Mekkah I'm Coming>. The
lineup of films will be screened at the CGV Grand Indonesia (Jakarta) and CGV
Paris Van Java (Bandung) cinemas and on the Vidio platform. However, some
titles are only shown in one location/platform.
At
the time of writing this article, the government's regulation restricts
cinemagoers to those over 12 years old and having a Yellow or Green color
status in the CaresLindung application. While in the cinema, visitors are
required to wear masks, maintain social distance and comply with health
protocols.
In
the future, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia,
KCC Indonesia and CGV Cinemas will be committed to holding cultural activities
like this, including the Indonesian Korean film festival to carry out the
mission of cultural exchange and friendly relations between the two countries.
