Super Junior's Choi Siwon was appointed Ambassador for the 50th Anniversary of South Korea-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations

Choi Si Won, a member of the South Korean boyband Super Junior, was appointed as the ambassador for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Super Junior's very high fame in Indonesia made Choi Si Won get the title of ambassador for this cultural promotion.

 On April 10, 2023, South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin appointed Choi Si Won as the ambassador for diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia which has entered its 50th year this year.
 Indonesia is the only country in the ASEAN region that has a Special Strategic Partnership relationship with South Korea. Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin made a commitment in his remarks that the South Korean government would take advantage of the momentum of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
 Since Choi Si Won has long been one of the most popular boy band members in Indonesia amidst a wave of Korean culture, Foreign Minister Park expressed his hope that Choi Si Won as a promotional ambassador can make a major contribution in increasing the understanding and attention of the people of the two countries towards each other. .

 "This appointment is full of meaning because I have long established good friendships with Indonesia. I will try my best so that relations between Korea and Indonesia can be strengthened," said Choi Si Won.
 The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to South Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto gave a gift in the form of batik to Choi Si Won and asked for his role in bridging the two countries, especially in terms of culture.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea will continue to disseminate information about the series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations that will be held throughout this year through social media so that many people from the two countries can take part in and enjoy Korean and Indonesian culture.
