CHUSEOK DAY CELEBRATION IN INDONESIA (추석)
On
September 13, 2019, South Korea's cultural center in Indonesia held an event
called Chuseok Day.
While
we are at the cultural center, we make decorative lanterns for Chuseok days,
eat South Korean special food, karaoke together and also try Korean traditional
clothes and take pictures together.
Each
country must have its own culture and customs, like the proverb, "Another
grasshopper is another field, another deep down fish". So it is with South
Korea. Culture in the country with the most fluttering entertainment industry
in Asia is one of the important points that makes many people in the world
increasingly interested in South Korea. Although living in modern times, most
of the people there still preserve and hold the traditions and traditional
cultural values.
One of them can be seen from their agility in celebrating
traditional holidays every year, such as Chuseok. For those of you who like the
world of Korean entertainment, certainly no stranger to Chuseok.
According
to the meaning, Chuseok means ‘full moon day’. Chuseok, also known as Hangawi,
which is 'a big day in the middle of autumn', falls on the 15th day of the 8th
month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year.
This year, Chuseok fell on 3 -
5 October yesterday with national holidays starting from 30 September - 9
October. In general terms, Chuseok means 'the autumn full moon festival
according to the Chinese calendar'. Now, on this traditional festival holiday,
all Koreans will use the time to gather with family. For those who wander,
Chuseok is a moment to go home to hometown. if in Korea is Chuseok's pas.
You
could say Chuseok is the Korean version of Eid. Chuseok is a traditional day
that has various meanings, such as to celebrate an abundant harvest and to
thank our ancestors. That is the reason Chuseok is called a day to give thanks.
On Chuseok day, the community will share the harvest with relatives, friends,
neighbors and disadvantaged people
On
Chuseok's day, Koreans will usually use hanbok (Korean traditional clothing).
Nowadays, for most people, Chuseok doesn't have to be celebrated by wearing
hanbok. Even today the greatest meaning of Chuseok day is family reunion. Even
so, the meaning behind Chuseok as a whole has not changed, which is still
meaningful love for the family, gratitude, and sharing sustenance.
How
do you all now know what Chuseok Day is in South Korea !?
