Korea Tourism Organization Jakarta, Celebrates Korea Month with Imagine Your Korea from Home

The OVID-19 pandemic has prevented everyone from being free to move, including traveling at home and abroad. However, even if you can't travel physically, you can still travel online. This is what the Korean government has done through the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO), including KTO Jakarta. KTO Jakarta carries out various online activities on its official website and social media with a variety of interesting content themes, such as "virtual travel" content in collaboration with influencers, quizzes, and giveaways to treat the feeling of missing Indonesian tourists traveling to Korea. For various online activities, KTO Jakarta raises various themes such as:

"Korea Mindful Journey", "Unpacking Korea", and "Korea Glocal Tour". In the #Akudan Korea Imagine Your Korea from Home campaign, KTO Jakarta held various online activities for Indonesian tourists to take a virtual walk with various themes, such as K-Drama, K-Food, Muslim friendly and traditional markets. In addition, KTO Jakarta also held a live talk show on the @ktoid Instagram account with various topics and created content with influencers, such as Kimbab Family, Korea Reomit, Bianca Kartika, and Amelia Tantono.

In addition, this October KTO Jakarta also enlivened the celebration of the annual Korea Month event with several series of events themed on Muslim-friendly tourism, medical tourism and others. This year, Korea Month will also be enlivened by various other interesting events from related Korean institutions such as the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia (KCCI), Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and others. Here are the highlights of the KTO Jakarta event for the Korea Month celebration.

Muslim Friendly Tourist Destinations. Although not a country with a majority Muslim population, South Korea is safe and comfortable for Muslim tourists to visit. Halal-certified and Muslim-friendly restaurants have sprung up in big cities and are easy to find. In addition, worship facilities such as mosques and prayer rooms can also be found in tourist destinations, for example, the prayer room at the COEX Mall shopping center, Gangnam.

To actively promote Muslim-friendly tourism, KTO Jakarta created an animated series Travel Gear: The Adventure in Korea with KTO Jakarta's mascots, Riko and Sela, as the main stars. Riko and Sela, accompanied by Hojong, Mugo and Kawoo from Kingdom Friends, will explore Muslim-friendly tourist destinations and attractions such as the Itaewon area, various Muslim-friendly facilities in Busan and other destinations. This animated series has five episodes, which can be enjoyed on the official KTO Jakarta YouTube channel.

The Muslim Friendly Korea Online Festival 2021 will also be held for three days, October 29 - 31, 2021. This online festival will present a selection of menus ranging from fashion, food, hallyu and wellness, of course, which are friendly for Muslim tourists. The platform, which is designed with an interactive approach, will provide access for visitors to be able to participate in various activities held such as webinars, quizzes and games. Continue to access the official KTO Jakarta website and social media to stay updated.

Korean Health and Beauty Seminar. Medical tourism is also being actively promoted to Indonesian tourists. One of them is by holding a health and beauty seminar on September 23, 2021. The main objective of this seminar is to increase awareness of Korean medical technology and provide Korean medical tourism services, procedures and information to the Indonesian people. This online seminar is a medium for Korean medical and beauty industry players, such as clinics and hospitals, to share information related to their technology, facilities and services.

On the other hand, this seminar provides an opportunity for the general public in Indonesia to know more about the hospitals or health clinics offered and to consult for free about the type of treatment and care they need.

KTO Jakarta has a target to be able to continue to hold similar events with more Korean health institutions so that the Indonesian people can get to know the Korean medical world better and also have a wider range of options to get the best treatment.

“Feel the Rhythm of Korea” with Asnawi Last May, Indonesia's young and talented national soccer player, Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar, was officially appointed as the honorary ambassador of Korea Tourism. Asnawi, nicknamed 'Park Ji Sung from Indonesia', joined Ansan Greeners FC in February. After entering the K-League and his brilliant performance, Asnawi's popularity among Indonesian people has also increased. In collaboration with Asnawi, KTO Jakarta created virtual travel content to treat Indonesian tourists' longing for Korea. KTO Jakarta and Asnawi showed some hidden gems in the cities of Incheon and Ansan, which must be included in the bucket list, such as Ansan Wa Stadium, Ansan multicultural street, Incheon Art Platform, Shinpo market and many more. The video of this trip can be enjoyed on the KTO Jakarta YouTube channel.

Director of KTO Jakarta, Yang Su Bae, said, “The year 2021 is still a difficult year for the world tourism world, including Korea and Indonesia. KTO Jakarta offers various online activities so that Indonesian tourists can enjoy Korea from home comfortably. If the situation improves, we hope that Korea will be the first country to be visited by Indonesian tourists. We hope that the Indonesian people can enjoy all the online events that we organize and are always in good health.
